ChinaandtheUS, togetherwiththerestoftheworld, havebeencommittedtoupholdingworldpeace, securityanddevelopment. Thetwocountrieshavehadclosecommunicationandcoordinationonregionalhot-spotssuchastheKoreanPeninsula, AfghanistanandtheMiddleEast, andhaveworkedwithrelevantcountriestoadvancethepoliticalsettlementoftheseissues. ChinaandtheUShavehadproductivecooperationincounter-terrorism, non-proliferation, narcoticscontrol, diseasepreventionandcontainment, povertyalleviation, peacekeeping, andthefightagainsttheabuseandtraffickingoffentanyl, amongothers. In 2001, whentheUSwashitbytheSeptember 11 terroristattack, theChineseGovernmentandpeopleimmediatelyexpressedtheirsympathiestotheAmericanGovernmentandpeople, andthetwocountriesstrengthenedcoordinationandcooperationoncounter-terrorismandnon-proliferation. Inthemeantime, Chinahascalledforrejectingdoublestandardsorevenmultiplestandardsincounteringterrorism. Duringthe 1997 Asianfinancialcrisisandthe 2008 globalfinancialcrisis, ChinaandtheUSworkedwiththerestoftheworldandmadesignificantcontributionstosafeguardinginternationalfinancialstabilityandkick-startingglobalrecovery. ThejointeffortsofChina, theUSandothercountrieshaveledtothesigningoftheParisAgreement, providingastrongimpetusforglobalcooperationonclimatechange. ThetwocountrieshavealsocarriedouttrilateralcooperationonfoodsecurityinTimor-Leste, conductedjointtrainingforAfghandiplomatsandhelpedAfricatofightEbola, settingaprimeexampleofthemworkingtogethertofacilitatecapacity-buildinginathirdcountry.
