烟花的盛开,并非都为喜事

Downstairs, sherifledthroughtheCD’s, andafterthatthebooks; thegraphicnovels, thrillers, travelcompanions, computerguidesandpoetryanthologies.[6] Then, withoutcomingupforair, shemovedontothephotoalbumsandthelettersandtheframedpicturesandthesmallporcelaingifts.[7] Allofitshebaggedandbinned, readyfortomorrow’scollection. Finally, shewentouttotheshed[8]. ThereshefoundthetoolboxandassortedDIYequipment, andtrashedthelot.[9] Shesearchedtheshelvesanddrawersforanyotheritemstodisposeof, andinthebottomofacupboard, beneaththegardeninggloves, shediscoveredthem.

      Itwasher 40thbirthday, andhehadboughtherfireworkstocelebrate. Butsheneversetthemoff[10] becausehehadbeencalledawaytoaconferenceinSwedenandshewasleftalone. Sonow, fivemonthslater, theyhadshownup. Shelookedatthemforaminute, feelingsomekindofsadness. Thenshethrewtheminthedustbinalongwiththosetools. Backinthehouse, shepouredherselfabrandyandsankdownexhaustedonthesofa.
