      Thespeakingsituationalsohelpsmakelanguageclearer. Forexample, theword “bank” hastwopossiblemeanings. Itcanmean “aplacewherepeoplekeepmoney”, butitcanalsomean “thesideofariver”. Sothesentence “Iwenttothebank” isnotclear. ItcouldmeanIwenttothesideoftheriveroritcouldmeanIwenttotheplacewheremymoneyiskept. However, ifthespeakeristalkingaboutfishingorgoingtothemountains, othersprobablyknowthat “bank” means “thesideofariver”.
