定语从句训练 （一）
【练习1】“It was a really bad move because that’s not my passion,” says Ning, whose dilemma about the job translated, predictably, into a lack of sales.
解析：先给句子划分成合理的结构：“It was a really bad move because that’s not my passion,” says Ning, // whose dilemma about the job translated, predictably, into a lack of sales.
分析句子结构：引号内为Ning说的话，有because引导的原因状语从句，顺译；whose引导的定语从句，采取大8原则（顺译），从句中predictably为插入语，调整到whose从句的句首翻译。about the job修饰dilemma，a lack of sales指的是销售业绩不佳。
参考译文：宁说：“这真是一次糟糕的举动，因为那份工作不是我的热情所在”。可以预见的是，他工作上的窘境导致了销售业绩不佳。
【练习2】These are the kind of workers that countries like Britain, Canada and Australia try to attract by using immigration rules that privilege college graduates.
解析：先给句子划分成合理的结构：These are the kind of workers // that countries like Britain, Canada and Australia try to attract by using immigration rules // that privilege college graduates.
分析句子结构：主句是These are the kind of workers ；第一个that引导的定语从句（that在从句中做attract的宾语），修饰的对象是workers, 定从采取顺译，by短语在从句中做方式状语，修饰attract，调到动词前翻译。第二个that引导的定语从句（that在从句中做主语），修饰的对象是immigration rules，采取倒译，译在N前。
参考译文：他们是这一类工人：像英国、加拿大、澳大利亚等国家试图用给大学毕业生的移民条例来吸引的这些人。
